Observation log
Rust tutorial servers
These servers have Rust's new-player tutorial switched on, matched by the tutorial tag or by "tutorial" in the server name. You spawn on a private island and run through gathering, crafting, building and cooking before joining the main map. The table is ranked by live players, refreshed every five minutes, and nothing here is paid for. Several large official servers keep the tutorial on, so this scan often looks busier than you would expect.

Rank is the catalogue number: RS-070 is the 70th server on players over the last seven days. The bar under the players is how full the server is; the light curve its players hour by hour. Next wipe is an estimate (~) unless it is the force wipe (FW); hover a time for the reason.
Read the Region column before you commit to a queue. Tutorial servers cluster in Europe, then North America and Asia, with little elsewhere. The Group column tells you the team limit: several set solo, duo or trio, while the rest use Rust's default of 8. Where no gather rate is listed, assume 1x; the tutorial does not change rates, so a 2x server is still 2x after the island. Wipe schedules vary, so use the Next wipe column for the countdown rather than guessing. The ranking order follows live players and their history, not server age or name.
Questions
Q01What does the tutorial do on a Rust server?
It switches on Facepunch's new-player tutorial, so you start on a private island and learn gathering, crafting, building and cooking before you join the main map. The server keeps its usual rates, group limit and wipe schedule throughout. You can skip ahead at any time if you already know the controls.
Q02Are Rust tutorial servers good for beginners?
They help for the first hour, because nobody can kill you on the island. After that you are on the same map as everyone else, so check the Group column and the gather rate in the Tags column before you join. Our ranking of beginner-friendly servers covers the wider picture.
Q03Do tutorial servers wipe?
Yes. They follow the same wipe schedule as any other Rust server, usually monthly, with some on weekly or biweekly cycles. A wipe resets the map; blueprints reset only if the server chooses to. Check the Next wipe column, or a server's page, for its countdown.
Q04Can I play with friends on a tutorial server?
Yes, though the tutorial island itself is solo. Once you finish it you join the main map and can team up as normal. Check the Group column first: some servers set a low team limit, and picking one that fits your group size saves a change later.
The table is ordered by live players, so the top rows shift through the day as servers fill and empty. The name search only matches server names and addresses; it will not find a region or team limit. If you want to filter by region, mode or rate, use the full server browser. Tutorial status is a setting, not a play style, so a busy official server can sit at the top of this list and play like any other. If you are new to the game, the ranking of servers for beginners is a better guide to a first wipe. Once the island is done, the map ahead of you is the same one everyone else plays.
