Observation log
Best Rust community servers
Community servers are player-run and not modded. Gather rates, loot and stack sizes stay at Rust defaults. This list covers every server in the Community tab right now, with the combat training, build, creative, battlefield, minigames and battle royale tags filtered out. What stays is survival Rust: owners set group limits and wipe days, and the ranking follows live player counts and their history.

Rank is the catalogue number: RS-070 is the 70th server on players over the last seven days. The bar under the players is how full the server is; the light curve its players hour by hour. Next wipe is an estimate (~) unless it is the force wipe (FW); hover a time for the reason.
Ranking here comes from real players scanned every five minutes, and nothing is paid for. The table orders by current live players first; switch to Rank to see which servers hold a crowd across days rather than one busy evening. Most community servers sit in Europe, with North America and Asia behind, so check the region against your own evenings. Group limits are mostly left at the default of 8, but search solo, duo or trio when you need a smaller team and read the server name. Wipe habits vary: many publish no schedule, and the Next wipe column estimates from recent activity. On weekly and monthly wipes, the first evenings after a wipe carry the highest populations. Just wiped servers catches the ones that reset most recently.
Questions
Q01What counts as a Rust community server here?
A server listed in Rust's Community tab, not official and not modded. It plays at default gather rates, loot and stack sizes because changes to those move a server to the Modded tab. Owners still choose group limits, wipe days and map seeds. The six tags for training, build, creative, battlefield, minigames and battle royale are filtered out of this list.
Q02How is this list ranked?
By live player count from the most recent scan, with a Rank column built from each server's population history. Nothing is paid for and no placement can be bought. The scan runs every five minutes, so positions move as players join and leave. Servers offline at scan time do not appear.
Q03Do community servers wipe on the same schedule?
No. Each owner sets their own wipe day, and many publish nothing at all. The Next wipe column estimates from what the server has actually done. Every server, community included, also wipes at the monthly force update on the first Thursday of each month.
Q04What does the Group column mean?
It is the server's own team size limit. Solo, duo, trio or quad shows when the limit is below 8. A blank column means the limit is 8 or higher, and 8 is Rust's default. Team limits are set by owners and do not affect the ranking.
Only servers online at this moment appear in the table, and a share of them have nobody on at all, so the list changes through the day. Current players put the busiest at the top; Rank smooths that over history. A server in the top ten by live players can sit far lower by Rank, which usually means one strong wipe week rather than a steady population. For official servers too, the vanilla list mixes both, and the full server browser adds filters by region, group limit, rate and wipe schedule. Live player counts explains what the scan records and how often it refreshes.
